In the heart of the forest, set off to discover the famous President Fir, a remarkable tree that impresses with its size and age. Standing 47 metres tall, this majestic conifer has watched over the mountains for more than 260 years.
A short climb through the woods leads to this impressive “King of the Forest”. Its surroundings are a pleasant spot for a family break and a great place for children to explore. To add to the adventure, there is a geocache near the President Fir: remember to prepare your search before setting off, as mobile phone coverage is limited in the area.

Start: Grand Arvet car park
1. From the car park, walk a few metres across the level ground. On your right, a sign points to the small trail leading to the “President Fir”.
2. Follow this trail to reach this majestic “King of the Forest”, an impressive conifer that is 265 years old. Standing 47 metres tall with a circumference of 4.10 metres (2011 measurements), it is remarkable for its sheer size. At an altitude of 1,000 metres, the area around the tree is a great place for children to explore and play.
3. Return along the same route.
